Brookline Bank Awards Grant to Steps to Success
Brookline, MA, 09/25/06 – Brookline Bank announced that it has awarded a $15,000 grant to Steps to Success, a Brookline based organization with a comprehensive educational achievement program providing academic, social development and family support for low-income students and their families. The grant will be used for the organization’s “Work Connections for Youth” program.
The “Work Connections for Youth” program offers paid summer internships to 8th through 12th grade students at thirty-four local companies, including Brookline Bank. This year, internships were provided to almost ninety students. The internships give participants an opportunity to gain workplace experience in actual business settings, allowing for the development of quality work habits, as well as career perspective.
“Steps to Success plays an important role in the lives of low-income families in Brookline”, stated Brookline Bank’s Senior Vice President Wesley K. Blair, III. “We are proud to help Steps to Success give low-income students the opportunity for career exploration and academic enrichment.”
