Password Protection Tips

Safe and secure Online and Mobile Banking begins with creating strong Online Banking IDs and Passwords. Here are some suggestions for creating safer login credentials.

  • Do not use any piece of confidential information, such as your account number or your social security number, as Online Banking ID or Password.
  • Do not choose common or predictable passwords.
  • Use a sentence or phrase rather than a simple word & number combination.
  • Use a different password for your Brookline Bank login than for your other online accounts .
  • Use special characters (+_%@!$&*~ are allowed).
  • Do not share your Online Banking ID or Password with unauthorized individuals and do not write down or store your Password in a place that is easily accessible to unauthorized individuals.
  • Change your Password on a regular basis to prevent the use of your accounts by unauthorized individuals who may have discovered it. Change it even if you only suspect that it has been disclosed or discovered.

How to Change your Online Banking ID

If you would like to change your Brookline Bank Online Banking ID, do the following:

  1. Sign in to Online Banking.
  2. Click on the "User Options" button.
  3. Scroll down to the "Modify Login Information" area.
  4. Enter your new Online Banking ID in the space provided.
  5. Click on "Submit".

Your new Online Banking ID must follow these rules:

  • It must be different than your current User ID.
  • It must be 6-25 characters in length.
  • It must contain 1 or more letters, numbers are allowed.
  • The following special characters are allowed: + _ % @ ! $ & * ~

How to Change your Password

  1. Sign in to Online Banking.
  2. Click on the "User Options" button.
  3. Scroll down to the "Modify Login Information" area.
  4. Enter your Current Password in the space provided.
  5. Enter your New Password in the space provided. Please note that passwords are case sensitive.
  6. Re-enter your New Password to confirm it.
  7. Click on "Submit".

Your new Password must follow these rules:

  • It must be different than your current Password.
  • It must be 8-25 characters in length.
  • Any combination of numbers, letters and "special characters" are allowed.

The following "special characters" are allowed: + _ % @ ! $ & * ~
